Oregon the Beautiful!
Traveling
Traveling with the girls can be a little rough.
We were able to stop at the Mary Hill Museum on the way home which the girls enjoyed. They particularly enjoyed the chess sets and native American artifacts. They were not particularly impressed with the sculpture exhibit and really could have done without seeing all those "bottoms!"
Home Sweet Second Home!
It has been such a long time since we were able to visit the farm and Hanley's parents that we took a rather last minute trip across the state. We lucked out with dry, warm weather. The farm and everything between here and there was stunning and green.
The girls enjoyed helping Grandma Jane and Grandpa Brian with their chores and spending some much needed time outside in the coastal air.
Spring Chicks are Here!
The same day I brought home the goats, I set out to the feed store to get the babies some milk replacer. In consulting with a helpful soul farm more knowledgeable in goat husbandry than I, the girls were offered a very sweet pet chicken. So naturally, I brought her home.
Fiona looks a bit like a pigeon, but she has found herself quite at home in our coop. She keeps to herself and does not cause much trouble.
The following day I went to the feed store to pick up some goat chow. I took a peek at the chicks. In stock were golden sexlink chicks quickly leaving adorable and fuzzy and speeding towards awkward adolescent. When I inquired as to when they expected a new shipment I was informed that I could have these for a buck a piece! So naturally, I brought home 15!
After spending about a week in a dog crate in the house they quickly got moved out to the chicken coop. They have settled in nicely and are nearly completely feathered. One of them is a rooster and is already nearly the same size as little Fiona.
